A Season of Belonging

Christmas magic comes to life when elderly Kris Kringle steps in as Macy’s Santa Claus, insisting he’s the genuine article. With warmth and kindness, Kris rekindles a sense of childlike wonder in even the most skeptical hearts, especially young Susan and her no-nonsense mother. When his sanity is questioned, Kris finds himself at the centre of a courtroom battle where he must prove that believing in the impossible is where miracles begin.

“Scrooge? I have to redeem old Scrooge? The one man I knew who was worse than I was? Impossible!”
When arriving at the eternal counting house, miser Jacob Marley signs a contract that reads “…on effecting a Total and Complete Change of Heart on the said subject, Mr. E. Scrooge…all Debts shall be forgiven, all Bonds Broken and you shall be Freed to Seek your Greater Joy.”
And so begins Jacob Marley’s journey to redeem the life of Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.
This re-telling of the classic Dickens's story, old Marley plays a hand in softening Scrooge and at the same time waking himself to the expansive, loving heart he could have shared while on earth.
This exciting and hopeful play that reminds us that all things can be made new and our greatest strength is in our connection to others.

Three exciting days where prospective students experience Rosebud first-hand through workshops, shows, and life in a thriving arts village.

Get a taste of what it's like to live in Rosebud and train at Rosebud Theatre & School of Arts. You will participate in classes, hang out with students, see a show, work in hospitality, experience small-town life, ask all your questions, talk with instructors, and reflect on the direction your life is meant to take. By the end of the weekend, you will have a good sense of whether or not Rosebud is the right place for your growth as a Christian artist.

Schedule
Applicants usually settle into accommodation on Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon. The weekend is filled with various activities designed to give ample opportunity to discover Rosebud and to meet the staff and students. Applicants are scheduled to observe classes - for example: choir, acting, art - as they are offered, and they will attend a dinner and theatre performance. Applicants may be asked to assist with the daily tasks of a working dinner and theatre, such as serving patrons or washing dishes. An interview and talent assessment rounds out the weekend. A complete schedule of activities will be given to you upon arrival in Rosebud.
Talent Assessment
Please prepare a one-to-two-minute monologue and a song. Choose a monologue from an existing play; do NOT choose a piece from a video game, film or something you have written yourself. Many online sources can help you find a monologue or you can reach out to us and we can make some suggestions.The song will be sung a cappella (without accompaniment) or you may accompany yourself if you wish. No musical accompaniment is provided.The talent assessment is not an audition. It is an opportunity to express your artistic abilities and for the panel to see where you are at in your journey as a performer. It will be a safe and friendly atmosphere shared with other potential students and two staff members.
Discovery Weekend and Application Fee: $175
The fee covers everything you need on your Discovery Weekend, including accommodation, meals, workshops, classes, and shows. The cost also covers your application fee.
